It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas!
Are you enjoying the Christmas season this year? If not, I hope you take some time to sit back and think about the reason for the season, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; spend some time to spend with the ones you love; decorate your home and bake some Christmas cookies to give to friends and family; go drive around your neighborhood and look at Christmas lights; go Christmas caroling; build a snowman; or whatever you can to get in the Christmas spirit.
Well now that I’ve given my advice to help you get in the Spirit of Christmas, my whole point of this post was to let you know what we’ve been doing so far. This is the first year in a very long time that I’ve actually felt like we’ve done more “Christmassy” things than just decorate, bake, shop and wrap presents.
Last weekend, we went to the Holiday Open House in Petoskey and had a blast. We walked around downtown in the snow, listened to the Petoskey Steel drum band play, drank some hot chocolate, at the best pumpkin pie I’ve ever had and took some photos.
Then this past Friday was our Youth Leadership Christmas Party. It was a ton of fun with good food, Euchre and Silly Santas!
Saturday was my hubby’s birthday, so we went to my oldest daughter’s house for dinner and cake and ice cream. But before we had the cake and ice cream, we went to a Benefit Concert for the Otsego Christian School given by Only 9am. Only 9am is a band consisting of 4 siblings…and their family happens to attend our church. The concert was really great and really put me in the Christmas Spirit. Here is a video from the concert and below that are some photos from the weekend. Enjoy!

26 Years Ago Today!
26 years ago today I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, Trisha Marie. I wish my scanner worked so I could scan in some of her baby pictures, but it does not (Boohoo). However, here are some of my favorite memories and fun facts about Trisha.
- She was 2 days late and has been late for everything ever since. Yes, it is one of the things I love about her…we can count on her being late.
- She came out screaming and her voice has been heard ever since. She is strong and doesn’t take any bull from anyone.
- She began walking at 10 months old.
- One of her favorite foods is peanut butter, though I got sick on it when I was pregnant with her. Peanut butter pie is still her favorite dessert today.
- She learned to ski at like 3 or 4 years old.
- Trisha got glasses in 3rd grade.
- She broke her arm playing softball. I don’t remember what grade she was in but I think it was 4th.
- We used to fight a lot when she was growing up. She was is very strong willed, but now we get along very, very well.
- Trisha “went out” with Ben in the 8th grade. When they broke up she called me sobbing (I was at the hospital with my best friend who was having her first baby). I felt so bad for her, but I always knew she and Ben would get married.
- Trisha has always been great with kids. When she was in school, she was a TA, and the kids just loved her.
- She had a few nanny jobs in high school too.
- October 22, 2005, Trisha married Ben.
- September 3o, 2006 Ethan was born.
- September 11, 2008 Dylan was born.
- Trisha is an awesome mom, wife and child of God.
I love you Trisha, my firstborn! Happy Birthday!
Here are some photos I have on my computer. I really need to digitize my old ones.

Happy Birthday to Me!
Okay, I’m not sure if it’s totally rude to do a post all about me and my birthday or not, but here I am. It’s currently 12:17 AM, September 22 and I think this is the first time in a verrrrry loooooong time that I’ve actually stayed up till, or passed, midnight on my birthday. I didn’t plan on staying up late or till midnight to “bring in” my birthday or anything…I’m just pretty much a night person anyway. Jeff is on vacation all this week because, oh tomorrow is our anniversary! I thought I would make it easy for him to remember my birthday and our anniversary by having them all together. Not really. It’s just how it happened. We didn’t really “plan” it that way. September 23, 2005 just seemed like the perfect time for us.
So, I’ve been enjoying watching all the Facebook birthday wishes coming in already and my 18 year old son was the first to text me at 12:14.
Tonight all my kids, mom and some friends are coming over for dinner and brownies. Brownies are my fave over cake. That’s all I need and ask for on my birthday.

Though secretly I wish for a new camera since ours died, but our finances won’t allow it right now, so I’m pretty sure that’s not gonna happen.
How old am I??? Old enough to know better but young enough to do it anyway! LOL. Don’t tell my kids!!! It’s just one of my favorite sayings from back in the day.
Who do I share a birthday with? One of my best friends, Tishia, her son, Caleb is now 11; Scott Baio, Bonnie Hunt, Joan Jett, and Bethany Dillon, a Christian Music Artist. There were a bunch of other “celebrities” but I either didn’t recognize their names at all or remembered them vaguely.
Interesting historical happenings on September 22:
1789-Congress authorized the office of Post Master General
1862-President Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclomation
Other interesting facts:
My birthstone is Sapphire, and the first day of Fall usually falls on my birthday.
There are a ton of other facts and historical events but way too numerous to mention here. I performed a search on Google using “historical facts September 22″ and clicked on the various links. Wikipedia seemed to have the most complete list.
When is your birthday and what interesting facts happened the day you were born? Do you think it’s boring or significant to know what happened in our world on the same day as your birth?
