Hubby and I have been trying to get our home remodeled for almost a year now. We have a lender, and a contractor, but for some reason we can’t seem to get this thing going. We started out last year by going to our lender and getting the information we needed. Then we went through 3 different contractors who came and went over some ideas with us. One of them never called back until I called him and then he referred me to someone else because the scope of the project is too big for his skill level. Then second contractor backed out for the same reason. We’re working with the third one and have been since late summer I think.
We are currently trying to get some plans drawn up so we can give the lender a good idea of what we want to do and how much it will cost. I just contacted one of the architect/design groups in our area so hopefully we will be able to get this ball rolling.
Our house is in need of some structural repairs as we have a sagging joist under the kitchen and it just needs some more support under the living room. Once we get that taken care of, I think the rest should go pretty smoothly.
I love coastal/beachy decor, and we have some of it in our house already. I plan on painting the walls a sand color, with white trim. My aqua and turquoise decor will go really well with those colors I do believe. Of course I get grandiose ideas from Pinterest and Houzz.
We plan on getting new flooring throughout, re-doing the guest bath/laundry/pantry, updating the kitchen somewhat, fixing the bathroom ceiling and updating my mother’s bedroom, updating the staircase, making a master suite with a walk in closet upstairs, as well as making a guest suite with it’s own bath. We need to fix all the trim in the house and paint all the rooms. I’m hoping we can get everything we want done. If not, I have some ideas for some updates without breaking the budget.
I’ll try to post progress photos and updates as things begin to progress. Pray for us that this goes a smoothly as possible. I know it can be stressful to go through house renovations.
For now, here is a photo from Houzz for our master bedroom. LOL
